Apple watch use for swimming analytics for the Canadian National Swim Team.
I was lucky to be involved in a project with my MSc advisor funded by the Canadian Olympic Committee.

The purpose was to develop a phone app to provide useful analytics to coaches, having the swimmers wear an Apple watch.

The team included my advisor as the Director of the project, two biomedical engineers and myself. My role was to collect the data with the swimmers and do a simple comparison of different variables with their gold standard.

An example would be comparing the stroke identified by the app versus the actual stroke, number of strokes provided by the app versus actual number of strokes etc.

Other examples include timing of different parts of a swim set and comparison to the automatic recognition of the app, or recognizing different parts of the arm stroke based on the sensor data from the Apple watch.
